Special CBI judge recused from Ishrat Jahan case

DGP (in-charge) P P Pandey, has been mandated by the special court to mark his presence as one of the conditions of his bail.

The Special CBI judge S J Raje on Thursday recused from hearing the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case for reason yet unknown. He is the second judge to do so in less than a year. Special judge Raje was to hear the application moved by DGP (in-charge) P P Pandey, out on bail in connection with Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, seeking exemption from his appearance every Thursday before the court.

Pandey has been mandated by the special court to mark his presence as one of the conditions of his bail. The CBI was supposed to file its reply on Pandey’s application when the judge informed the CBI special public prosecutor R C Kodekar that he has recused himself from hearing the case and has sent all the court documents related to the case to the registry.
