Congress president Sonia Gandhi was on Monday admitted to a private hospital following viral fever. Sonia (69) was taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital around 8 pm on Monday and the doctors treating her said her condition was much better on Tuesday.
“Sonia Gandhi has been admitted under the care of Dr Arun Kumar Basu, senior consultant in Department of Chest and Pulmonology Medicine and his team of consultants. Her routine tests are being conducted and she is better today. She is likely to be discharged in a day or two,” said chairman of the hospital’s Board of Management, D S Rana. While the Congress chief’s daughter Priyanka was with her throughout, son Rahul visited her on Tuesday.

Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said there was no cause for worry. “The Congress president has been admitted to a hospital following viral fever. She will be discharged within two days. She will resume her Parliament duty soon. There is no cause for worry,” he said.
In August, Sonia was hospitalised for 12 days after she fell ill during a roadshow in Varanasi.
