Following Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement on Wednesday regarding surgical strikes conducted in the past, Congress leader and former Defence Minister AK Antony said “somebody must control him”.

“He called surgical strike a burden and frustration of last 30 years…somebody must control him. I strongly object his statement,” news agency ANI quoted the leader saying.

The former defence minister added Parrikar insulted both the Army and the country with his statement.

“I feel sad for what Parrikar said…he insulted Indian army and our country as well,” Antony said.

Parrikar on Wednesday had claimed that there had been no surgical strikes conducted in the past and all such strikes were covert operations.

“Those actions can at best be called covert operations where action was taken first and the government informed later. But the September 29 strikes were a result of a government decision,” Parrikar had said regarding claims of surgical strikes carried out under previous governments.
