Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani will inaugurate a fortnight-long exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts items in New Delhi on Wednesday. The fair has been conceptualised with a view to provide direct marketing platform for innovative products developed by 120 artisans of handicrafts clusters covering different crafts like leather, embroidery, zari and chikankari, Madhubani painting, artificial jewellery, etc.

The fair is being promoted and marketed by Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations with financial assistance from the office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). It will remain open for public till November 15. “The event will showcase the best of Indian handicrafts in quality, design and versatility from all over the country.
This programme is being organised as an exclusive fair for handicraft products in India at a grand scale to increase visibility of the products in domestic market.” “The programme will also benefit the artisans from clusters who are unable to participate in the international fairs due to high cost. The space rental and infrastructure shall be provided free of cost to these participants,” the Textiles Ministry said.
