A day after being stripped of key ministerial portfolios in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav said that he has full faith that party supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav will take the right decision. “I believe in netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav), will do whatever he says,” Shivpal Yadav told reporters Wednesday.
Responding to speculations about his resignation from the UP cabinet, the SP leader said, “Giving (or taking) portfolios is discretion of CM…I will decide after talking to netaji,” adding, “I will carry out the party’s work and will stay among the people. The election is nearby and I am sure that the people of Uttar Pradesh will support the Samajwadi Party.”
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had Tuesday divested uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav of all ministerial portfolios after the latter replaced him as state party president on the instructions of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Hours after Shivpal was named the new state unit chief, Akhilesh took away his portfolios of PWD, irrigation, cooperatives, flood control, land development and water resources, wasteland development, revenue, disaster relief and rehabilitation, and public service management.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has cancelled all his meetings for the day.
