AFTER CHIEF Minister Akhilesh Yadav and SP state president Shivpal Yadav stopped holding janata darbars, district presidents and mahanagar unit presidents, MLAs and zila panchayat chairmen have been asked to hold the same at the party district headquarters every Saturday and Sunday to redress problems faced by locals.
In a circular, Shivpal has directed that letters of the people will now be sent to the state administration and concerned ministers only through the district SP office. He has also warned that disciplinary action will be initiated against those who do not comply to his directives.
Party spokesperson Deepak Mishra said Shivpal has only decentralised the system of janata darshan.
“Instead of party state headquarters, Janata darbars will now be held at district offices. Now, the people will not have to face the inconvenience of coming to Lucknow from far-flung places. Their problems will be redressed at the local level. If they want redressal of any issue related to the state administration, the district units could send the information to the state headquarters,” he added.
He also claimed that Samajwadi Party will not stop the practice of holding janata darbars and leaders will meet people if anyone approaches the SP headquarters.
On Akhilesh’s decision to discontinue janta darbars, Mishra said: “The chief minister meets people regularly… There is no need to specify any day for the purpose.”
