Sanjay Nirupam’s statements cheapest form of publicity: BJP

"Every Indian wants #SurgicalStrikesAgainstPak but not a fake one to extract just political benefit by #BJP," Sanjay Nirupam earlier tweeted.

With Sanjay Nirupam accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the Indian Army’s recent ‘surgical strikes’ for political gain, the saffron party on Wednesday questioned the former’s credentials for questioning the integrity of the government. It described Nirupam’s demand as the cheapest form of publicity for self gain resorted to by a senior Congress leader.

“What credentials does Sanjay Nirupam have to question the government? Does he suggest that he is questioning the integrity of Prime Minister Modi and the Indian Government? Does he suggest that he is against all political parties and his own party, where everyone stands united in this fight against terror?” BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI.

“If he does, I think it is the cheapest form of publicity for self gain,” she added.

Yesterday, Nirupam controversially raised doubts about the strikes.

“Every Indian wants #SurgicalStrikesAgainstPak but not a fake one to extract just political benefit by #BJP,” he tweeted.

Attacked for the comment, he later clarified, “I’m not saying you release all video footage, I don’t think so either… as it may not be in the interest of national security… but there is a need to show some proof.”

The Congress Party, however, distanced itself from his comment, saying that the surgical strikes that took place on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) were not fake.

Asserting that Congress has full trust on the Indian Army, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the grand old party has taken cognizance of Nirupam’s comment.

“Congress doesn’t agree with the statements made by Sanjay Nirupam, we have taken a serious note of it,” said Surjewala.

“The Congress fully trusts the Indian Army,” he added.

Surjewala further advised the Government of India to share the evidences it has in regard with the surgical strikes.

“It is time that Government of India unmasks Pakistan’s false propaganda by revealing and making public the evidences we have,” he said.

Seven terror launch pads across the LoC were targeted by the Indian Army on the night of 28 September in a nearly five-hour-long operation during which heli-borne and ground forces were deployed.

The announcement of the strikes came 11 days after the attack by Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad on an Indian army camp in Uri in Kashmir, after which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said the attackers will not go “unpunished” and that they will not be forgiven.

Only demonstrates, that lack of power, brings Congress's true colours out. I am not at all surprised. Look at contradicting statements from Chidambaram, Rahul hi, Sonia hi, Aiyer, etc - all saying contradictory statements. Proves beyond any doubt that they will say any thing to any one, just to get vote bank, thinking that people of India are fool and will not notice. Public Hai Yeh Sab Janati Hain ! As to elections, EVERY year, there is election in India, in one state or another. Are you saying that stan behaviour should never be confronted, even when they cross red-lines? BJP is not so cheap to confront terrorist, unlike these cheap opposition parties which are likely to be out of power for a very long time...

What is preventing the government to release the video visuals to silence stan false claims on surgicall strikes and silence the total critics. Better late than never to clear the doubts and international media silence on surgical strikes issue also a concern. Ruling party wants only boutique and brick bats for their dismal performance.

Sanjay Nirupam must have erred while challenging the surgical strikes. An emotional outburst of a committed Congressman. He is a bit brash and impulsive. He needs to control his emotions while issuing statements.I AM SURE HE WILL APOLOGISE.But what about the BJP claiming credit for the surgical strikes.Posters have been put up all across the city. While the Congress Party has distanced itself from the statements of Nirupam why is the BJP silent on the posters.

because when a national government and an Army of a nation of 1.25 billion people says something, it carries some weight. Also surgical strikes were not done to convince publicity seeking Indian politicians. It was meant to give message to someone and they got the message. How much they learn is upto them.

If you claim something, you have to substantiate it with plausible proof. Nothing wrong in Nirupam's demand.

It seems, politicians like SN, Kejri and Chidambaram are in deep trouble for money laundering cases, hence they support Pak so that Pak will give them ailum when they plan to run away from the law enforcers in india

The questioning on authenticity has come from frustrated politicians due to successful handling of country's affairs by a tea vendor . MODI HAS COME TO POWER IN POWER BECAUSE OF MERCYOF NEHRU PSEUDO SECULAR DYNASTY but by hard work from ordinary SYAMSEWAK TO PM AND IS NOT FOREIGNER WHO WERE SQUEEZING THE BLOOD OF PUBLIC ONLY BY VIRTUE OF BELONGING TO DYNASTY FAMILY . THEY HAVE NO ACADEMIC OR ANY OTHER QUALIFICATION, WERE IN POWER BY EMOTIONALLY BLACK MAILING THE PEOPLE OF INDIA IN THE NAME OF DYNASTY .NOW THE COUNTRY IS SAFE IN THE HANDS OF BJP AND MODI . THOSE QUESTION THE AUTHENTICITY OF SURGICAL ATTACK ARE TRAITORS OF COUNTRY THEY ARE JEALOUSY WHY COUNTRY IS SAFE . THEY SHOULD TAKE A LESSON FROM OUR ENEMY STAN WHERE THEY IN ONE VOICE BEHIND THE GOVERNMENT DENYING ANY SURGICAL OPERATION, ATTACK HAPPENED . THESE INDIAN TRAITORS WHO QUESTION THE PROOF OF ATTACK ARE VOICING WITH THEIR FELLOW BROTHER OF OUR ENEMY, SHOULD BE GARLANDED WITH NOT FLOWERS BUT THEY DESERVE GARLANDING OF ROTTEN SHOES FROM THE PATRIOTIC CITIZENS?
