BSF troops killed three terrorists as they foiled an infiltration attempt from across the international border at Fatwal village in Chamliyal area, Ramgarh sector, early Tuesday. Four BSF personnel including a DIG were injured in an IED explosion while retrieving bodies of slain terrorists. Pointing out that it was a booby trap, sources said that the explosion took place when BSF personnel picked up the body of a slain terrorist. The grenade was tied around the stomach of the terrorist who was lying with his face towards the ground.
This is the first time that Pakistan has opened fire at Chamliyal area that had been peaceful even during the recent escalation, perhaps owing to the presence of the shrine of Baba Chamliyal who is also revered by Pakistanis.

According to sources, the BSF troops noticed suspicious movement along the international border around midnight. Pakistan Rangers reportedly began unprovoked firing on the Indian side to give cover to the infiltrators.
However, when the terrorists entered the Indian territory, BSF troops challenged them. The terrorists, believed to be three in number, took refuge inside a structure built on a bore well in the agricultural land of a local farmer.
Denying BSF DIG falling to a terrorist’s booby trap, BSF IG D K Upadhyaya, however, said that that the officer along with a BSF personnel were among three people injured in Pakistani firing from across the international border.
“When we were retrieving the bodies of the terrorists, Pakistani Rangers suddenly opened fire and one small mortar fell nearby injuring three including two BSF men and a police cop”.
He said that a major terror attack has been foiled as the slain terrorists were “very very heavily armed”. So far, we have seized three AK rifles, a very large number of magazines and bullets, besides hand grenades and two rucksacks. However, the exact details of seizures will be given once the operation is complete, he said, adding that there are still a number of grenades lying here and there.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attacks on security forces in Nagrota and Samba, saying such “dastardly” acts would not lower the resolve to fight terrorism. “Condemn the terror attacks in Nagrota and Samba today. Such dastardly acts won’t lower our resolve to fight terrorism,” the CM was quoted as saying on the Twitter handle of her party, the PDP.
