‘Won’t give a single controversial answer’: Here’s what Mulayam Singh said at the press conference

In a bid allay apprehensions about acrimony within the party and rift within the family ahead of the 2017 UP Assembly polls, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav held a press conference at the party headquarters in Lucknow on Tuesday where he reiterated that the family is strong and united. Mulayam also said the decision on the party’s chief ministerial candidate will be taken after the party emerges victorious in the state elections.

Here is what he said during the press conference: 

1. When asked by a reporter, “There’s a proposition that you should be CM & all problems will be solved?”

Mulayam Singh said, “Only 2 months left for polls, why think this now?”

2. “I will not give even a single controversial answer, no matter how many controversial questions you may ask”

3. “Yes it’s true that the majority was in my name (in 2012), we made Akhilesh CM. Now it’s up to him to carry out responsibilities”

4. On Ram Gopal Yadav’s statement: “I don’t give too much importance to his statement” (Unki baat ko ab mai mehetva nahin deta hoon) READ: I don’t give importance to what Ram Gopal Yadav says: Mulayam Singh Yadav

5. On being asked if sacked minister would be reinstated, Mulayam said: “I leave this decision to the Chief Minister” (Ye mai mukyamantri pe chorta hoon)

6. “Our family is united, we have full strength” (Humara parivaar ek hai, party ek hai, poori taakat ek hai)

7. On being asked on UP CM candidate for 2017 Assmebly polls: “Let us get majority then you will get to know the outcome” (Humara bahumath aane dijiye uske baad aapko pata chal jaaega)

8. On being asked about Amar Singh: “Why bring Amar Singh into everything?”
