A bus attached to Deep Transport, owned by SAD Gidderbaha constituency in-charge Dimpy Dhillon, killed a commuter in Kaoni village of Gidderbaha constituency in Muktsar district. The deceased was identified as Sukhbir Singh, 25. He was on a motorcycle from village Kaoni to Asa Butter village when the bus hit him from behind.

Sources said the driver and conductor of the bus, that was going from Gidderbaha to Faridkot, fled after the accident, leaving commuters in the lurch. A large number of SAD supporters gathered at the spot and took the youth’s father, Jagdish Singh, along with them. Some villagers staged a protest at the spot. The body was later taken to Gidderbaha civil hospital for postmortem examination.

Meanwhile, the police registered a case of accidental death. SSP Muktsar Kuldeep Singh Chahal said, “It was an accident. The family had no complaints and there was no tension in village after the accident.” In December last year, two persons had died in similar accidents involving Deep Transport buses.
Dimpy Dillon was unavailable for comment.
