A day after India announced that it will not take part in the SAARC summit in Islamabad in November, the Congress on Wednesday asked the Centre to explore the possibility of holding a SAARC summit without Pakistan. “Should the government not explore the possibility of actually having a SAARC summit minus Pakistan… Would that not make a better case for the isolation of Pakistan?” Congress leader Manish Tewari asked.

The Opposition party, meanwhile, continued its criticism of the NDA government’s response to the Uri terror attack. Tewari said the Centre is “scrambling for a coherent response” even 10 days after the attack. He said so far, the government’s response to the attack has “swung from the sublime to the ridiculous”.
