Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said reforms were needed among prisoners to bring changes in their lives. Chandrababu, who inaugurated the administrative building of the Central Prison here, said, “The aim of imprisonment is not to punish the prisoner but to bring change in his life through reforms.”
The Chief Minister interacted with prisoners at the jail. He said necessary changes would be brought to simplify the punishments in case of minor offences. He suggested prison officials to provide skill development training to the inmates to get “good employment” opportunities after their release.
The prisoners, headed by Brahmaiah, presented a special chair to Chandrababu. Earlier, the CM laid foundation stone for a hospital to be constructed for jail inmates.
