Record rainfall, parts of North Bengal submerged

Testa, Torsha, Leesh, Geesh, Korola and Mahananda rivers have crossed the danger mark.

Large parts of north Bengal were submerged Monday after heavy rainfall in the last 48 hours. Meteorological Department officials said this is probably the heaviest rainfall the region has witnessed in nearly two decades.

Testa, Torsha, Leesh, Geesh, Korola and Mahananda rivers have crossed the danger mark.

Among affected areas are Siliguri and surrounding areas in Darjeeling district, Dooars region in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts, Kalchini, Madarihat and Kumargam blocks in Alipurduar district and parts of Cooch Behar and Uttar Dinajpur districts.
