suresh-prabhu-759For someone who is known to be active on social media, Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu has been uncharacteristically quiet ever since the fare hike was announced. This fuelled speculation online as well as in Rail Bhawan over whether Prabhu was avoiding a backlash by lying low. But the speculation ended when he cancelled his public engagements and it was revealed that the minister had been unwell and resting at home.

Out and About

With most of the bosses away, it seems like holiday season at the Defence Ministry. Upon return from the US after signing the logistics agreement, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar left for Goa for Ganesh Chaturthi. His MoS, Dr Subhash Bhamre, is in London attending a conference on UN peacekeeping, while the Defence Secretary is in his home state to celebrate Onam.

Fresh Extension

The deadline to receive feedback on the new education policy draft has been extended again. This is the third extension ever since Prakash Javadekar took over the HRD Ministry. It is learnt that the RSS had suggested September 30, but Javadekar had announced September 15 as the extended deadline. The minister now seems to have finally acquiesced.
