The AAP on Tuesday held state-wide protests against the arrest of their Delhi MLA Naresh Yadav on Sunday in the alleged Quran desecration incident in Malerkotla. The party targeted revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia and CM Parkash Singh Badal.
They pointed out that Majithia was not considered guilty after “drug lord” Jagdish Bhola had named him during his interrogation.
AAP’s women wing in charge Baljinder Kaur said,”CM Parkash Singh Badal has standards different for Majithia and AAP’s MLA Naresh Yadav.”
“If Badals think that they can harm our votebank, they are mistaken. People are intelligent and are rather supporting us more now,” said Sucha Singh Chhotepur, AAP Punjab convener. Naresh Yadav will be produced in court on Wednesday.
Protesting against the arrest of Yadav, who is himself an advocate, the Bar associations in Punjab observed a day’s strike and the courts in such districts did not work.
Meanwhile Sangrur police revealed that no new information was revealed by Naresh Yadav during his police remand.
