An Akali Dal sarpanch was booked by the police Thursday after he allegedly thrashed a five-month pregnant nurse.

The entire incident which took place at a hospital in Moga’s Bagha Purana town, was captured by the CCTV cameras installed there.

The accused sarpanch Paramjeet Singh along with his son Gurjeet Singh visited the hospital to get a patient discharged.

But when they were told to sit outside and wait for their turn, they became angry.

The victim, Ramandeep Kaur, in her FIR, claimed that she had politely asked the sarpanch to sit for a while at the reception. But he became furious and allegedly started abusing her.

Kaur claimed that the son allegedly pushed her and when she tried to overpower him, the duo brutally trashed her.

The police has booked both the accused under Sections 451 (house-trespass in order to commit offence), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC at Bagha Purana police station. Both the accused are absconding, informed SHO Gurmail Singh.
