Hardliner groups Dal Khalsa and Damdami Taksal has hailed the resolution adopted by the Punjab Assembly seeking money for water supplied to non-riparian states like Haryana and Rajasthan. A natural opposition of SAD, hardliner group Dal Khalsa has termed this as the “first right step to correct the wrongs of the past.” Harnam Singh Dhuma-led Damdami Taksal has also welcomed the resolution.

Dal Khalsa chief Harpal Singh Cheema and spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said, “Punjab should get crores of rupees from Rajasthan, Delhi and other non-riparian states for using our river waters. The executive and the judiciary has always been discriminatory in its approach towards this border state and that the real test of the Punjab rests in establishing its ownership rights on waters and controlling the headworks.”

Meanwhile, Damdami Taksal accused the Congress of allegedly ignoring rights of Punjab over its river waters. “Punjab is the only state in world which has been deprived from its right on the river water,” said Harnam Singh Dhuma.
