Former Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar Monday rode to the Assembly on a motorbike that he claimed was “passed off as a truck” by the SAD government for ferrying grains from mandis to godowns in the Rs 22,000-crore CCL scam. The motorbike, PB 11 A N 1055, was among the 15 vehicles, the CAG, in its report said, was shown in the record as being used as a truck.
With CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi riding pillion, Jakhar said he brought the bike to show how the sitting government had shown this bike with the registration number as a truck in records.
Labelling the bike ‘as Akalis da truck’, Jakhar said they would take this bike to party rallies and other programmes to show the people.
Sources close to Jakhar said he had bought the bike from its Patiala-based owner. The former CLP leader had contacted the CAG to get the registration numbers of the 15 vehicles and identified this bike after taking help from states transport department. “We will present this bike to the Akalis to take it on a Tirath yatra after they lose the election,” Jakhar said.
