IN FIRST official declaration of an Akali Dal ticket for Punjab elections next year, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna will be fielded on SAD ticket from Amloh constituency in Fatehgarh Sahib.

“I appeal to the people to make Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna victorious in the coming assembly elections in order to ensure development of Amloh constituency,” said Sukhbir at a sangat darshan in Amloh. Sukhbir is also SAD president.

Khanna recently replaced party vice-president Jagdeep Singh Cheema as Amloh in-charge. Cheema, too, had been running parallel activities in area. On Tuesday, Sukhbir, while officially confirming Amloh ticket for Khanna, did not forget to mention Cheema.

“I assure to give greater responsibilities in the party to Jagdeep Singh Cheema,” said Sukhbir. Currently, Amloh seat is held by Congress’s Randeep Singh.

Sukhbir announced that he has also accepted Khanna’s demand to extend the limit of Municipal Council of industrial town Mandi Gobindgarh.
