Punjab Assembly witnessed dramatic scenes on the second day of the ongoing monsoon session Friday. A day after they teamed up with former BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu to launch the fourth political front in Punjab, Independent MLA brothers Simarjeet Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains were carried and thrown out of Punjab Assembly premises on the orders of the Speaker.
During House proceedings, Simarjeet lodged a protest when Speaker disallowed his plea for a discussion on charging Rajasthan Rs 16 lakh crore for sharing river waters. He protested again when when Leader of the House and CM Parkash Singh Badal was about to start his address on a resolution on paying tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary.
As Simarjeet continued to disrupt the proceedings, the Speaker asked him to leave the House but he refused and continued to protest. The Speaker then asked Marshals to take him out but Simarjeet walked towards the Well and started raising slogans. His elder brother and MLA Balwinder Singh Bains too entered the Well to protest and were soon joined by some Congress legislators. The Marshals then carried the Bains brothers and took them out. Simarjeet was allegedly thrown out on the road outside Assembly premises. His clothes got torn in the process and he also claimed that he was injured.
The Bains brothers continued to raise slogans outside the Assembly hall. Balwinder managed to re-enter the Assembly after some time, but Simarjeet was not allowed.
