A woman has filed a police complaint in Satara district against Congress MLA Jaykumar Gore alleging that he harassed her by sending lewd and vulgar messages, and seeking sexual favours. Gore represents Man constituency in Satara district. Case was registered against him under IPC sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of Information Technology Act, said Sandip Patil, Superintendent of Police.
The complainant, who organises skill development programmes, had met Gore in connection with work some time ago, the SP said.
“Gore, who had woman’s number, used to send vulgar messages and photos to her and was seeking sexual favours from her,” the officer said, adding that this went on for almost seven months before the woman approached the police.
“We have registered a case and investigation is on,” he said.
The Congress MLA denied the allegations and said this was a conspiracy to implicate him in bogus cases as the local body elections were round the corner.
“I am innocent…I am not the one to run away from the law,” said Gore in a statement.
