THE PIMPRI-Chinchwad unit of the BJP passed a resolution on Wednesday to form an alliance with the Shiv Sena for the 2017 civic elections. The final decision regarding the alliance will be taken by the party’s state leaders.
After the core committee meeting was held on Wednesday, MLA Laxman Jagtap, who is also the president of BJP’s Pimpri-Chinchwad, said a maha-alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and RPI will be formed in Pimpri-Chinchwad to jointly contest the civic elections. Among others, BJP leaders like Amar Moolchandani, Babu Nair, Sarang Kamtekar, Rajesh Pillay, Vasant Vani, Mahesh Kulkarni, Uma Khapre, Mauli Thorat, Amol Thorat, Pramod Nisal, Shaila Molak, Anna Garje, and Sanjay Mangodkar were also present at the meeting.

At the meeting, Jagtap put forward the resolution for forming an alliance which was unanimously passed.
The Shiv Sena has already said that it was keen on an alliance with the BJP in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe recently told this paper that the decision will be based on what happens in the Mumbai civic elections. “Though the local Shiv Sena unit in Pimpri-Chinchwad is in favour of the alliance, party leaders will take the final decision,” she said.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, an NCP leader Sachin Chinchwade and an activist from Chinchwad Madhuri Gurav joined the BJP in presence of state BJP president Raosaheb Danve. In another development, the party has asked aspirants for the civic elections to submit their applications by October 30.
