The Violet, an online subscription service for luxury “period essentials”, hosted a donation drive at Sant Tukaram School on Friday to collect sanitary products for students of Vidya Niketan School at Pashan. The drive will benefit over 500 girls. The Pune-based organisation, launched this year by Yogita Muttha (25) and Laukik Bothara (27), hosts monthly drives to support the #VioletLove initiative which donates menstrual supplies to underprivileged women.

For each luxury beauty package purchased on its website, The Violet donates one box of sanitary products to girls in need through charities like Swadhar, Chaitanya Mahila Mandal and Anath Hindu Mahila Ashram. The luxury Violet Box includes cosmetics, chocolates, coffee, tea and candles.

The “Period Box” features these same indulges plus menstruation supplies.

During this Diwali, however, The Violet has pledged to donate ten such boxes for every online subscription.

The Violet welcomed several dignitaries to the event which includes international fashion designer Nivedita Saboo, Splitsvilla and Roadies contestant Martina Thariyan, administrative heads of municipal corporation Sunanda Patil and Shivaji Bokhare and Sant Tukaram School principal. The Violet has joined hands with Rotaract Club for the initiative.
