Prashant Kishor, who played a crucial role in steering the electoral campaign of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2015 Assembly elections, has been appointed adviser on policy and programme implementation to the Bihar CM. Kishor will now get the status and entitlement of a minister in the state.
According to a notification issued by Cabinet Department Principal Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra on January 21, 2016, Kishor was appointed to advise the CM on formulating plans and ensuring time-bound and effective implementation of development programmes and resolutions. It said that Kishor could be given additional responsibilities on programme implementation from time to time.
This is the first time Nitish has appointed an adviser for himself.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad said: “I welcome Kishor’s appointment as adviser to the chief minister. Nitish had sought my consent on it. Kishor is a nice man and will do well.”
