A chauffeur-driven luxury Porsche SUV, with at least four passengers on board, Saturday ran over two sadhus sleeping outside a temple, killing them on the spot, police said. The incident took place near Kokilavan Shani temple in Mathura.

The vehicle is reportedly owned by Delhi-based real estate company Omaxe. The driver, Jagat Singh, has been arrested.  According to police, the driver parked the vehicle outside the temple and went to pray with the other passengers. They came out at 5.30 am.

While reversing the vehicle, the driver ran over two sadhus sleeping there. Circle officer P K Singh said it has been confirmed that a car with a registration number from Delhi had run over the sadhus.

“The driver has been arrested,” he said. However, he said that the driver was alone in the car.
