A DAY after Delhi Congress spokesperson and President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee filed a complaint against a man for sending sexually explicit messages on her Facebook account, Delhi Police Cyber Cell approached Facebook to provide details of the account holder.

Police have also formed a team to crack the IP address of the account from which the messages were sent, said sources.

A case under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and 67 of Information Technology (IT) Act was registered with the Cyber Cell Saturday evening.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (cyber crime) Anyesh Roy told The Indian Express that they have begun the probe had started and Facebook had been approached.
