At an international conference on disaster risk reduction, PM Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasised the role of women, utility of age-old practices and the need for the world to come together to mitigate disasters.
“Women are disproportionately affected by disasters. They also have unique strengths and insights. We must train a large number of women volunteers to support special needs of women affected by disasters,” he said.
