National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Saturday that during his visit to Bathinda on Friday, Prime Minister Narindra Modi “failed to announce any major project or package for Punjab, whereas in Bihar before election, he announced a multi-crore of package.”
Speaking on the 6th day of his 11-day tour of Punjab to address Punjab Inquilab rallies here in the constituency of Punjab minister Ajit Singh Kohar, Kejriwal said Akalis had ruined the state making it a “hub” of drugs and that AAP would take it a challenge to curb the menace within a month of formation of government.
“So far, more than 40 lakh youths of Punjab are trapped in the drug network spread by Akalis. After the formation of government in Punjab, AAP would break the supply chain of drugs within one month and drug-addicted youth would be rehabilitated by opening rehabilitation centres at war-footing within six months and giving them employment,” Kejriwal said.
He also accused the Congress of giving false hopes to the people by claiming it would fight the menace of drugs in Punjab. “Dr Manmohan Singh government was there at the Centre for 10 years during which the Badals ruled in Punjab, but Congress never acted against Punjab minister Bikram Majithia, who has been operating multi-crore drug racket in Punjab. In fact, Captain opposed the CBI probe, which was being demanded against Majithia,” Kejriwal said.
