PM Modi, BJP can get me killed: Arvind Kejriwal

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “mastermind” behind the arrest of AAP MLAs, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday alleged that he and the BJP could get him “killed” in the coming days.

Kejriwal’s statement, in a ten-minute video released by his party on YouTube, came on the day AAP MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar’s house was searched by the Income Tax department.

His remarks drew an angry reaction from the BJP, which said “he is frustrated, not the Prime Minister… frustrated by his own incompetence in governing Delhi and lack of results on the ground… frustrated by the criminal actions of his own party MLAs”.
With ten of his party MLAs booked for various offences, Kejriwal warned AAP members that the days ahead could be “very ugly” and they will have to be prepared for the “ultimate sacrifice”.

“I want to say this to all volunteers, MLAs and ministers. This is a very critical time. You all think about it and talk to your families too. In the days ahead, this oppression is going to get very ugly. They can go to any extent. They can get us killed. They can get me killed as well. Talk to your families. Jail is a very small thing. It is clear now that everyone will have to go to jail many times. Along with jail, anything can happen to you. If you are ready, then stay with us. If you are not ready, there is some weakness in your mind, then leave all this for a few days,” he said.

“I want to understand this. The IT, CBI, Delhi Police, ACB are all after us. There has to be a mastermind above them all. Who is this mastermind? Is it Amit Shah or Modiji or PMO? They are all together. Amit Shah is doing it on Modiji’s instructions… But it is all happening from there,” he said.

Kejriwal said Modi could not have ordered these actions in the right frame of mind. “Insiders tell me that Modiji is very angry and agitated. He is not thinking logically. Arresting one MLA after another everyday has no logic. Everytime an MLA is arrested, he comes out (on bail) in three days. They can’t prove anything.”

The PM, he claimed, was taking decisions in rage and anxiety. “Why is the PM so agitated? I don’t know. Different people say different things. Some say there is a lot of good work in Delhi and the Centre is unable to do anything. Comparisons are being made. Others say they haven’t digested their defeat in Delhi or they are upset with the support we are garnering in Goa, Gujarat and Punjab.”

“He is taking all these decisions without thinking, and in anger. This is most worrisome. If the king of a country starts taking decisions in anger, it is a very dangerous thing for that country. If the PM takes decisions in anger, then we don’t know how many decisions he is taking like that,” Kejriwal said.

The AAP chief, whose party is set to contest assembly elections in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat, also questioned Modi’s ability to run the country. “Is the country in safe hands? The more I think of this, the more I lose sleep… Every section of the society is upset. Businessmen, students, Dalits, minorities, farmers, jewellers, youth… they are all upset. With inflation, people’s businesses are being shut down. Dalits protested, they were crushed. Rohith Vemula was crushed. Farmers, students, youth are all crushed. They left no stone unturned in crushing the AAP. CBI, ACB, Delhi Police, IT were all unleashed on us but they could not crush our spirit… That’s why they are angry and disappointed,” he said.

“One way to get power is to do good work. The people will be by your side. Like we have done in Delhi — reduced power bills, free water supply, improved conditions of schools and hospitals. On that count, the BJP has failed on every front. It has not delivered a single thing in its election manifesto. The other way is to crush your opponents. When you have no opponents, you will remain in power. This is what they have resorted to. One by one, they have demolished everyone. Have you seen Congress or any other party having the courage to raise its voice?” Kejriwal said.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said Kejriwal’s remarks are “nothing but the reflection of his utter frustration after total exposure of his immoral politics during recent days… It seems he is looking forward to higher security cover”. He said Kejriwal is “frustrated with scams, frauds and cases of misconduct with women by his ministers and MLAs”.

BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said: “Kejriwal’s comments are shameful. We condemn them. He used to harp on morals and spoke against corruption. But he has been unmasked. He now stands for protecting his corrupt colleagues, many of whom are involved in various crimes, including trying to cause riots to grab power. He should know that democracy is governed by the rule of law and if anybody violates them, then the law will act.”

BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao too hit back at Kejriwal: “He is frustrated, not the Prime Minister. He is frustrated by his own incompetence in governing Delhi and lack of results on the ground. He is frustrated by the criminal actions of his own party MLAs.”

The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. -- Will Durant, as quoted on Daniel Pipes site. Conservative estimates place the number at 80 million dead Indians. According to some calculations, the Indian (subcontinent) potion decreased by 80 million between 1000 (conquest of Afghanistan) and 1525 (end of Delhi Sultanate). -- Koenrad Elst as quoted on Daniel Pipes site
