Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said people’s participation and feedback are equally important to make governance accountable for service delivery and to bring visible change.
“People must contribute through their suggestions and recommendations to erase the faults in governance and make the government deliver,” Sonowal said during an interaction with citizens at Dibrugarh.
Common citizens are an important part of the administrative system and civil society must take active part in governance, keep a strict vigil on the working of the government and point out its faults and shortcomings, he said.
The government believes in facilitating an open environment where people can freely voice their opinions and concerns regarding government activities, he said.
The Chief Minister also urged the people to come forward and strongly desist corrupt practices in government offices as “We are committed to act strongly against all complaints of corruption, if there is evidence of wrong doing.”
This government will leave no stone unturned to live upto the expectation of the people and work tirelessly to uphold the basic rights of the citizens to ensure equal development of all sections of society, Sonowal added.
