JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar has moved the Supreme Court requesting bail citing ‘extraordinary circumstances.’ The plea will be heard before the court tomorrow. Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee is likely to argue for Kanhaiya’s bail plea.
Meanwhile, students of JNU are marching from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar demanding the release of Kanhaiya Kumar and the dropping of sedition charges against him.

1:45 pm: Factory workers from outer areas in Delhi like Bawana have also converged upon the protest site. “Awaaz do, hum ek hain,” they were heard shouting.

1:30 pm: Ex-AAP leader Yogendra Yadav will be joining the march today at Mandi House. There are other organisations that has pledged to join the protests.

1:27 pm: The JNU Teachers’ Association (JNUTA) and its executive council will also march along with the JNU students union today. The decision was taken at a general body meeting of the JNUTA. Teachers are demanding release of Kanhaiya Kumar and dropping of sedition charges against all six students.
1:25 pm: Students have begun assembling at Sabarmathi hostel inside the JNU campus and in a while, they would be travelling to Mandi House to participate in the protest march. They have roses and tricolour flags in their hands.

He announced that he, along with a delegation of Congress leaders, submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee.
1:10 pm: Ahead of the protest march by students, policemen are patrolling the Mandi House circle and taking stock of the situation.
12:55 pm: JNU students will be marching from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar at 2 pm today in protest against the arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar and the ‘gagging of freedom of speech’ by the government.
Shehla Rashid, Vice President, JNUSU, in a widely circulated Whatsapp message rubbished rumours of the march being cancelled. She urged students not to clash with the police and to cooperate in every way possible. The march has to be peaceful, she said.
She also asked her fellow friends not to get into arguments with any right-wing group, but to ensure that the silence of their protest resounds.
12:45 pm: Meanwhile, the Bar Council of India has taken cognizance of the Patiala court episode which involved an attack by lawyers on journalists. It has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.
12:30 pm: The court had on Wednesday listed the matter at 2 pm to get the report by the Lawyers Committee that it had sent to Patiala House Court on Wednesday to take stock of the ruckus in the court complex and the attack on Kanhaiya Kumar.
The Registrar General of the High Court too would give his report to the court on Wednesday’s violence in the court complex and the presence of an unidentified man in the courtroom who had allegedly hit Kanhaiya Kumar.
