A 28-year-old Pakistan national was arrested on Sunday from Jaisalmer for flouting visa norms, police said.

“Ajba Ram, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab province in Pakistan, had been living in Jaisalmer for the past two years. He had come to Jodhpur on a visitor visa, but violating visa norms he came to Jaisalmer to spend time with relatives,” said police inspector Ganga Ram, Station House Officer, Mohangarh police station.

“His visa had expired and he was not permitted to visit Jaisalmer,” Ram said.

Police said Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials apprehended Ajba Ram and, after questioning, handed him over to Mohangarh police station officials on Sunday. Prima facie, no ulterior motive was found in his overstay, the SHO said.

“He has relatives in Jaisalmer and was found to be making a living through farming. No ‘wrong’ purpose could be found in his violation of visa. But we’ll take action against him for flouting norms,” Ganga Ram added.
