After the concerts of Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali were cancelled in Maharashtra, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today tweeted that the singer has accepted an invite to perform in the city.
Kejriwal tweeted, “Ghulam Ali Sahib. Hum apke bahut bade fan hain. Abhi apse baat karke bahut acha laga. Thanks for agreeing to do a program in Delhi in Dec.”
Two of Ghulam Ali’s scheduled concerts in Mumbai and Pune were cancelled after Shiv Sena protests.
The Shiv Sena said that while tensions remained at the Indo-Pak border, such a concert couldn’t be allowed. The concert was eventually cancelled under pressure from Sena.
Condemning the incident, senior AAP leader Ashutosh said that the cancellation of the event was not only an insult to the singer but also to Jagjit Singh, as the Pakistani singer was scheduled to pay tribute to the late singer on his fourth death anniversary.
