OROP suicide: Manish Sisodia ‘forcibly’ moved out of RML hospital; ‘had gone to meet jawan’s family, not to hold dharna’

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was reportedly taken into custody by the police after he visited Ram Manohar Lohia hospital to meet the family of deceased ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal. As per reports, Sisodia was forcibly taken out of the hospital and moved inside a bus.

Sisodia later expressed his anger on Twitter saying he had gone there to meet the family of the jawan and not for holding a dharna.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was also barred from meeting the family of the ex-serviceman.

Special Commissioner MK Meena was quoted by news agency ANI saying Gandhi was detained for trying to enter hospital despite being advised otherwise.

Grewal allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday after consuming poison over government’s failure to implement One Rank One Pension (OROP). He was among many ex-servicemen who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the scheme.

His son said that Grewal had called them up and informed that he was going to take his life. Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar took cognizance of the matter and asked for details.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also set to visit Grewal’s family in Haryana. He also urged the government to bring OROP.

    Retired army people I know of have already started receiving almost 2x of their pension. They have good opinion on OROP. Not sure what was this guy's problem.

      All anti-nationals that include AAP ministers and scamgress who question the integrity of the armed forces by questing the the surgical strikes have no right as they are just trying to do political stunt in the name of our armed forces

          i am sorry to say such a weak person may not be fit to be in defense. His cause may be justified but by killing himself he hardly fulfilled anyone's dream.
