The Opposition Monday demanded the resignation of Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse, who is battling a series of controversies. A Congress delegation led by former Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam met Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to press for Khadse’s removal from the state cabinet.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) too stepped on the offensive. Party leader Nawab Malik alleged that there was also a ‘black money’ angle to the purchase of MIDC land near Pune by Khadse’s family members and demanded that it be probed.
Meanwhile, social activist Anjali Damania levelled a fresh allegation against Khadse, questioning his role in the allotment of contracts for two irrigation projects in his native Jalgaon district. Khadse has rubbished the charge.
