Taking up a petition seeking a CBI probe into the nomination of three state government officials to Haryana Civil Services (HCS) executive branch during the regime of the previous Congress government in 2014, the Punjab and High Court Monday issued notice of motion to the Haryana government for filing its reply by October 19.

The order came on a petition filed by Hisar resident Bhajan Lal who himself was a candidate for the nomination. However, Bijender Singh, Surinder Pal and Ashutosh were selected for nomination to HCS executive branch in the interviews held on July 31, 2014.

The petitioner has specifically sought directions to hand over the probe to the CBI in the FIR registered on February 20, 2015, at police station vigilance bureau at Panchkula against Bijender on the allegations that his BBA degree was not recognised and despite this he was selected due to his connivance with other accused officials. Bijender was then stenographer-cum-librarian in the office of Director Prosecution. The petitioner has alleged that Bijender is a resident of village Sanghi in Rohtak district which is also the native village of then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
