No Internet in Jammu districts

Sources said that while mobile Internet services there had already been suspended for the last 70 days following unrest in adjoining Kashmir after the death of Burhan Wani, broadband services were stopped Monday evening.

In a move to check rumours during Eid festivities, the J&K government Tuesday suspended all Internet services, including broadband, in Cheb Valley and Pir Panjal regions comprising five districts in Jammu region — Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban.

Sources said that while mobile Internet services there had already been suspended for the last 70 days following unrest in adjoining Kashmir after the death of Burhan Wani, broadband services were stopped Monday evening.

This followed a letter from the Jammu zone IGP, Danish Rana, to the cellular operators.
