NHRC orders probe in 2013 gangrape case after police call victim woman of questionable character

NHRC’s DIG (Investigation) will get an inquiry conducted into the police probe, record the statement of the victim, her husband and witnesses in the case and submit a report in four weeks.

TAKING serious note of a closure report filed by Firozabad police in a 2013 gangrape case, which questions the victim’s character, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed its team to analyse the case. NHRC’s DIG (Investigation) will get an inquiry conducted into the police probe, record the statement of the victim, her husband and witnesses in the case and submit a report in four weeks.

NHRC took cognizance of the case while going through a complaint it received along with a news article. The complaint alleged that on November 5, a 30-year-old woman was gangraped in her village in Firozabad.
