Upset over the loss of his job and failed marriage, a 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai, police said. Mahender allegedly hanged himself at his rented house in Neb Sarai yesterday evening, a police official said.
He had separated from his wife a couple of years ago and used to stay with his grandmother in Neb Sarai, the official said.
Mahender has an eight-year-old son who stays with his paternal grandparents in Madanpur Khadar, police said.
He was a driver, but had lost his job recently and was working as a painter for some time. He was distressed as he also had to support his grandmother who had brought him up, the official said.
On Wednesday, Mahender returned home after dropping off his grandmother, who was going to attend a family function around 6 PM, and hanged himself, police said.
The lady, who lives downstairs, was going to the terrace and through the open door of his room, she found his body hanging and alerted the landlord who made a PCR call around 6.50 PM, said the officer.
No suicide note was found at the spot, police said.
