A 38-year-old woman was strangulated to death by her nephew in Outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area after she resisted attempt of the accused to molest her. Initially the victim’s nephew, identified as Chintu (19) was claiming that she fell unconscious after falling from stairs on Wednesday afternoon, but investigator found after postmortem that she died after she was strangulated.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) Sanjay Singh said they arrested the victim’s nephew Chintu on the charges of murder and has been sent to judicial custody after he was produced before the concerned court on Friday. “Initially he tried to mislead the investigators after cooking false stories, but after the sustained interrogation, he broke down and confessed that he had killed her,” he added.
On Wednesday afternoon, police received a call that a woman was found in unconscious condition at her home. “The call was made by Chintu and after reaching at spot, she was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital where she was declared brought dead on arrival. Her body was preserved for postmortem and during initial questioning, Chintu, who recently came from his village in Bihar, told the police that his uncle in his office, while his both the cousins were playing outside their home when she fell from stairs,” a senior police officer said.
The postmortem was conducted on Thursday and then investigators came to know that she was strangulated to death. “Police immediately registered an FIR and they started their investigation. They again called Chintu for the questioning and found some bruises in his hand. “During interrogation, he told the police that sensing that she was alone, he tried to molest her, but she resisted stiffly and threatened her that she would inform his uncle along with other relatives about this matter. Scared with this, he killed her,” the officer added.
