Navy Chief visits Western Command headquarters in Chandimandir

The chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, complimented Western Command on the high level of operational preparedness and later interacted with the officers of Headquarters Western Command.

The chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, visited the headquarters of the Western Command in Chandimandir on Friday. Admiral Lanba, who took over the office on May 31, was on a familiarisation visit to the Western Command headquarters.

However, neither the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lt Gen KJ Singh, nor the Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Gurdeep Singh, were present to receive him.

It was later learnt that Lt Gen Gurdeep Singh was on leave, while Lt Gen KJ Singh was away on an official visit.

In the absence of the two senior most officers of the Western Command, Admiral Lanba was received at Chandimandir by Maj Gen AK Sanyal.

Later, he was briefed on the operational preparedness of the Western Army and issues of mutual interest were discussed. The naval chief also interacted with the officers of the Western Command headquarters and paid a visit to the new Command Museum.

After the visit, the chief of Naval Staff proceeded to the Chandigarh Air Force Station.
