Former Rajya Sabha member Navjot Singh Sidhu and former Akali MLA Pargat Singh may join Congress soon, according to party sources. Pargat Singh will meet Sidhu at his Delhi residence on Wednesday to take a final call on the matter. On Monday, two members of their Awaaz-e-Punjab outfit, the Bains brothers struck an alliance with AAP.
Watch what else is making news:
Senior Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad is reportedly in touch with Sidhu and has made him an offer. Source said Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh has been taken into confidence on the matter.
Sidhu had earlier created a furore in the Congress when he had said that he would join the party only if Amarinder was not in it. He had alleged a nexus between Badals and the state party chief and had said he would not work with him.
Sources say he has since mellowed down on. Bains brothers fell off with Sidhu on this issue as they said they would find it difficult to answer questions as to how they were aligning with Congress with Amainder after alleging a nexus. Sidhu cmap has been claiming that Bains brothers aligned with AAP without taking him and Pargat into confidence.
