Five names dropped from PM Modi’s council of ministers

In a much-awaited expansion of the council of ministers, 19 new leaders were sworn in as minister of state while Prakash Javadekar was elevated to cabinet rank

Five leaders have been dropped from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers to make way for new faces who were inducted earlier today.

Press Trust of India reported that Nihal Chand, Ram Shankar Katheria, Sanwar Lal Jat, Manuskhbhai D Vasva and M K Kundariya were the leaders who will be exiting the council.

While Nihal Chand and Sanwar Lal Jat are MPs from Rajasthan, Katheria hails from UP. Both Mohanbhai Kundariya and Mansukhbhai Vasva are leaders from Gujarat.

Nihal Chand is an MP from Ganganagar and was a Minister of State in charge of Panchayati Raj. Katheria is an MP from Agra and was a Minister of State in charge of HRD. Sanwar Lal Jat is an MP from Ajmer and was an MoS in the Water Resources ministry. Mohanbhai Kundariya was a MoS in-charge of agriculture.

While 19 new faces have been inducted in the fresh expansion of the council of ministers, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, who held independent charge, has now been given cabinet rank.
