The Facebook page of Kulpreet Singh, alias Neeta, one of the six prisoners who escaped from Nabha Jail in Patiala in the early hours of Sunday, was updated at 1.11 pm, and the post appeared to suggest that the police are allegedly “enacting a drama on the lines of the Bhopal encounter”. It also alleged that the entire episode may be a “political stunt”. The police said the post could have been put up by Neeta’s brother, but did not rule out the possibility that Neeta himself had done it.

Police da kasoor howega share this post fast. (The police are enacting a drama on the lines of the Bhopal encounter; these boys had no reason to escape. There was no evidence against them and they would have come out in one or two years. It could be an election stunt as well. We want our boys back safely. The police can book anyone’s family member in a false case. Earlier, my brother and father were booked in a false case; we have proof. It is a police game as they cannot escape like this. If anything happens to the boys, then the police will be responsible).”
