A mysterious letter delivered to Mahi-Mandvi hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru University has given a new turn to missing MSc student Najeeb Ahmed’s case. The letter, written by a woman and delivered on November 14, claimed that Najeeb was spotted in Aligarh, reported Times of India.
The letter reportedly said she had seen Najeeb in a market in Aligarh and that he had sought her help. Najeeb told her that he was locked up somewhere and managed to escape. As per the report, the letter was received by hostel president who then handed it to Najeeb’s mother Fatima Nafees. The letter was given to the Crime Branch for investigation.
The woman, who allegedly wrote the letter, also mentioned that Najeeb had again mysteriously disappeared before she could seek help from anyone. The police may now interrogate the courier agency through which the letter was delivered and it might also be sent to the forensic lab for handwriting analysis.
Najeeb Ahmed had disappeared from JNU campus about a month ago after he got into an altercation with ABVP volunteers inside the hostel. His mother, along with other members of the family, has been protesting in varsity campus since then demanding a strict probe into the incident.
