Madhya Pradesh Assembly Friday unanimously decided to form a House committee that will suggest ways to help students cope with examination related pressure. The decision came after a discussion on a calling attention motion by two Congress MLAs who said about 1,000 students had taken their lives in the state in the past five years.

Stressing on the need of moral education, yoga and meditation, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said sports period will be made compulsory in schools. Some MLAs equated the pressure put on students by parents and teachers with “social crime” and said the committee would talk to national and international experts before recommending steps to arrest the number of suicides. The committee will have members from all political parties.
