In a controversial remark, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath has said Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa was part of a “conspiracy for Christianisation of India”.

“Teresa was part of a conspiracy for Christianisation of India. Incidents of Christianisation had led to separatist movements in parts of North-East, including Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland,” the Gorakhpur MP said.

Addressing a Ram Katha programme in UP on Saturday, he said, “You all are unaware of the situation in NE. You should visit there to see the real situation.”

In 2015, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had in a similar comment said Mother Teresa’s service to the poor was aimed at converting them to Christianity.

On the issue of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Adityanath said no one can stop it from being constructed.

“When they could not stop kar sewaks from demolishing the Babri mosque, how will they be able to stop us from carrying out construction,” he said.

On alleged exodus of Hindus from Kairana, he said they were forced to leave Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and at that time no one raised the issue of “intolerance”.

“Exodus of Hindus from Kairana is a result of pseudo- secularism and appeasement policies pursued by different governments in Uttar Pradesh…Because of this, the population of Hindus which was once 68 per cent has come down to 8 per cent (in Kairana),” he alleged.

The problems India has is not due to Congress. It is due to the Hindu caste system. This is unique to India. Congress cannot erase the caste culture - reservation does not solve it. BJP wants to install the Vedic caste system. Hence, India cannot become a developed country due to this unique factor.

Dear Yogi ji. Have you ever visited any North Eastern States that you comment so much about them. You blame Christianization for seperatists movements here. Do you even realize that the once Powerful insurgent group fighting against India, the ULFA, is Hindu dominated. Do you even know that Manipur where the Anti-India feeling is high and where AFSPA is working for decades, against Meitei insurgent groups is a hindu dominated state where a lot of Meiteis are majority Hindus?? Where do you think Hindi was banned by the insurgents? Assam and Manipur. Both States with Hindu majority Yogi ji. Just because you have heard about the NSCN and other Christian dominated groups it doesn't mean they are anti-Hindus. Sure they have targetted many people because of their ethnicity or language, but never because of religion. So please Yogi ji. We have a host of problems here, ethnic, social, cultural and political. Dont complicat our problems further by bringing in religion.

Dear Yogi ji, Have you ever been to any states in the North East?? You said Chistianisation has led to seperatist movement in NE? Do you know that the largest Insurgent group in the NE is ULFA, An organisation of Assamese Hindus. The state with the most insurgent groups is Manipur with atleast 18 groups belonging to the Meitei community who are Hindus. The seperatist ideas in NE India is not religiously motivated yogiji. It is racial, cultural, ethnic and socio-economical rather than religious. Please read the history of turbulence in NE India before you open your mouth. Why is it that Hindi was banned in Assam and Manipur by the insurgents? Yet there were a lot of Tamils, Marwaris, Bengalis who are hindus, living there peacefully. If you think Hinduism is targetted, don't you think these people would have bear the brunt? Why wasn't Tamil, or Punjabi banned?. The fact is Yogiji, you are looking from the wrong angle. The turbulence is cultural and political.
