Slamming BSP chief Mayawati for her repeated attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his demonetisation drive, BJP Saturday alleged it seemed all the money Mayawati had collected by “selling” party tickets has gone waste with the notes ban and that the move has severely affected the politicians-bureaucrats nexus.

Terming the BSP chief’s charge that the currency withdrawal decision was taken with political interests in mind as ‘’baseless’’, BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said: “The PM’s decision was not against some people or party but against black money, corruption and those involved in fake currency, drugs and terror funding. It may be possible that some political parties have been affected as well.”

“Modi is targeting black money but leaders like Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav are targeting him. People rejected her in 2012 and then in 2014 polls. BSP was a movement during Kanshi Ram’s time but is busy collecting money now. It seems all the money she had collected by selling poll tickets has gone waste with demonetisation,” Sharma told reporters.
