Mohali: Student expelled for assaulting Kashmiri youth

A student of a private engineering college in Mohali has been expelled for allegedly assaulting a Kashmiri student Monday. Mohammed Yasin Ganaie, pursuing BTech at Indo Global College of Engineering, suffered minor injuries after he was attacked by a group of youths outside the hostel.

“We have expelled a student who was involved in the scuffle,” said principal Promila Kaushal. She said the “minor scuffle” was a fallout of an argument during a cricket match.

Ganaie said he had no enmity with the youths who allegedly assaulted him with swords and iron rods outside the hostel.
