JNU student found dead in hostel room

His body has been preserved at AIIMS mortuary for postmortem. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death.

A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room. The PHD student was reportedly missing since the past three days.

A resident of Manipur, J R Philemon Chiru, was was found dead in room no 171 of the Brahmaputra Hostel.

“When a foul smell started emanating from the room, the student in the neighbouring room called other students and security and forcefully opened door. He was found dead in the room,” a senior police officer said.

His body has been preserved at AIIMS mortuary for postmortem. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death.

JNU administration is already rallying through protests as another student Najeeb Ahmad went missing eleven days ago and has not been located yet.
